The Changes of the Bible Covered Bridge

Wooden bridge in 1923, just before a new covered
bridge was erected. Roger, the family dog was
sitting on the bridge. At that time, my mother
was 12 years old.

My mother asked Greene County Hertiage Trust

to preserve the old worn out covered bridge. The

project was accepted to preserve and restore

it. Hats off to my mother for hard work...

The new Bible Covered Bridge along the Little Chucky
Creek in Midway, Tennessee (Warrensburg Community),
about 15 miles from Greeneville was completed
early in 1972. My mother proudly stood behind it.
Also, it was selected, "National Registry of the
Historic Sites" and one of the 5 surviving covered
bridges in Tennessee.

The covered bridge was restored again with the
Greene County Hertiage Trust in 2004 and driving the
covered bridge is closed. Use a concrete bridge to pass
the Bible Covered Bridge on Denver Bible Road.
There is a parking lot for pictures taking and
taking a deep breath to mess around...

Camilla in my mother's spirits proudly is standing
at the Bible Covered Bridge along the Little Chucky Creek...

The Denver Bible Family used to live the house on
the Bible descendant's farm. Denver was my mother's
only brother. On the right side, the log house( 2 stories)
was where my mother was born. Now it was down.
I had fond memories there when I was young...

Edwin Allison Bible, the 6th Bible descendant had
his bright idea about erecting a covered bridge.
So he did with his people's help. He was Greene
County magistrate twice, and county surveyor.
Had some county affairs, too. Edwin Allison
was my grandfather (my mother's father).

Here is a portion of the Bible (Biebel) history from their beginning in
this country.
They were natives of the Rhine Valley in Germany (Alsace, the
small village of Goersdorf). They were driven out due to the
fact that they were being persecuted because of religious beliefs.
The Bible brothers(Phillip and Christian Bible) were moved to
Tennessee (Greene County) from Rockingham County, Va.
Christian Bible (our 4th descendant) & the family migrated to
the Tennessee frontier and settled on the Little Chucky
(Nolichunkey) River in Greene County, Tennessee.
Christian acquired and developed many acres of land-much
of which is still owned & occupied by his descendants.
Christian had 12 children.
Camilla is the 8th descendant in the Bible (Biebel) family.
Amanda's and Olivia's are the 9th...
Thanks to Edwin, our descendant to keep the Bible
Covered Bible "alive" and historic part.
